Aloe Up Protection Tips and FAQ's
- The Maximum SPF (sun protection factor) manufactured by Aloe Up is SPF45+. This is a recommendation by the FDA (Food & Drug Administration USA)
- What is the difference between AloeUp and other suncreams on the market? Whilst active ingredients in suncreams are similar, ie offering UV defence, it is the inactive ingredients that make the difference. Essentially, Aloe Up products have a very high aloe content harvested straight from the plant. The minimum aloe ingredient recommended by the pharmaceutical industry for aloe based products to work by volume is 20%.....we use a minimum of between 25% - 99% in our formulas. Most product in the market place that has some Aloe Vera content is a benefit for marketing purposes only! Aloe Up sun creams have more aloe content by volume than any other known suncare product.
- Aloe is the same PH as the skin. Thus is super moisturising and saturates the upper dermis layers without blocking pores.
- Our natural formula is great for the skin and protects from UV for much longer. Provided one applies Aloe Up lotion to skin a minimum of 15 minutes before going in water the lotion will be active all day. However, we recommend that if in water for 90 minutes or longer, or if perspiring profusely (eg. high energy sports), we recommend to reapply.
- Cheap suncreams are a disaster for sea-life environment as they create a fine slick on the surface of water before dispersing to the depths. Many of these creams do not moisturise the skin, but sit on the surface and wash off easily and then have to be reapplied often also stinging the eyes when sweating.
- It is important to use the correct Sun Protection Factor (SPF) for your skin type.
- For complete protection, apply your suncream on to dry skin at least 15 minutes before exposure to the sun.
- Generally Fair skin needs a minimum suncream factor of SPF25. Medium tone skin requires at least SPF 15. Dark skin has plenty of Melanin which is the body's natural protection against sunburn and therefore needs a minimum protection factor of 8.
- It is important even for dark tans and skin tones to use a minimal SPF value at all times when outdoors in the sun and exposed to the raw weather elements
- Always use high factor suncream at altitude, even when conditions are overcast on the mountain or on snow or water. Remember the higher the altitude the dryer the air and the stronger the sun's UV rays.
- It is advisable to replenish your skin after extreme outdoor activities. Use Aloe Up Therapeutic and/or Aftersun lotions to replenish dry skin especially after washing or bathing.
- Lips contain no melanin. Keep your lip balm handy. It is essential to use SPF lip balms regularly during outdoor pursuits.
